This is the UFC 301 live blog for Jose Aldo vs. Jonathan Martinez, the co-main event fight on Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro.

Already the greatest featherweight of all-time and a UFC Hall of Famer, there isn’t much left for Aldo to accomplish in MMA. So after he fell short against Merab Dvalishvili in 2022, Aldo hung up the gloves. However, the desire to continue fighting lingered, and with the UFC returning to Brazil, “The King of Rio” ended his retirement for one final fight inside the octagon.

Riding a six-fight winning streak, Martinez is currently the No. 12-ranked bantamweight in the UFC, with designs on making a real title run. And while Aldo is not currently ranked, the featherweight GOAT is highly respected, meaning that if Martinez can unseat a legend this Saturday, he may find himself with a shot at someone in the top five sooner rather than later.
