Recently, Colby Covington has been making a name for himself as both a top welterweight and a top trash talker in the sport. Covington recently called the entire country of Brazil filthy animals after winning a unanimous decision over Demian Maia at UFC Sao Paulo last month and has been taking shots at current welterweight champion Tyron Woodley for months, trying to goad him into a fight. But Covingtons latest call out may be his most dangerous one yet: former two time UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones.
Covington lived with Jones for two years in college and speaking recently with Submission Radio, the third-ranked welterweight put Jones on blast for the dichotomy of some of his outside the cage antics and his humble persona.
"Im saying truths, Im saying facts. Im just speaking my mind. I didnt know I wasnt allowed to speak my mind in this world. I think I know him more than most people since I lived with him for two years.
The guys a fake - his little f**king baby-faced tweets to Georges St-Pierre, it just got under my skin. Hes just trying to act like a saint, Oh, Im praying for you. Shut up, man. Go do some more coke. Go cheat on your wife some more. Youre a piece of shit dirtbag.
Jones caught Covingtons ire after tweeting to Georges St-Pierre ahead of his middleweight title fight at UFC 217, causing Covington to respond with a refrain first proffered by UFC President Dana White.
