– Bodyslam.net and Brad Shepard released a new report on the alleged backstage altercation that took place between Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar after the main event at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. As previously reported, After the match, Lesnar went backstage to the gorilla position and reportedly threw the Universal Championship at the wall. Shane McMahon was also allegedly present during the incident and jumped up like he was ready to “fight” Lesnar. No words were exchanged during this apparent incident, and Lesnar then left the building.
The following day, WWE announced that Lesnar had re-upped with the company and would face Roman Reigns in a cage match at the Greatest Royal Rumble event set for later this month in Saudi Arabia. According to the latest report from Brad Shepard, a source within WWE said the backstage incident was either “a complete work designed to manipulate pro wrestling news sites who they knew the news would leak to, or it was severely over hyped.”
The report adds that Vince McMahon played kayfabe with regards to the altercation to other WWE Superstars and employees. Additionally, McMahon was said to have not been happy about the table spot in the match, which was reportedly unplanned and did mention that to Lesnar after the match.
Bodyslam.net’s WWE source added that “they” were all told that Lesnar would be dropping the Universal title to Reigns at WrestleMania before leaving to go to the UFC. The report also notes that Lesnar is expected to stay in the company for at least a few more months.
UFC President Dana White has stated recently that Brock Lesnar, also a former UFC heavyweight champion, will be fighting again for the UFC. However, if Lesnar were to fight in MMA again, he’d have to re-enter the testing pool for the US Anti-Doping Agency.
