AEW Dynamite Sees Ratings 038 Viewership Drop This Week, Still Finishes Ahead of NXT

Showbuzz Daily has the overnight ratings for this week’s edition of the Wednesday Night Wars. It was another victory for AEW Dynamite this week. Last night’s TNT broadcast drew an overnight audience of 835,000 viewers. Meanwhile, NXT did have a slight increase in viewership, but the show finished with 696,000 viewers.

Numbers were slightly down for AEW this week, which featured back-to-back nights of Dynamite. As noted, a special late, one-hour Tuesday night episode of Dynamite managed to draw 585,000 viewers and a 0.26 rating in the key demo.

Last night’s AEW Dynamite had a drop of about 51,000 viewers in its overnight viewing audience, compared to 886,000 viewers for last week, which was the first return to the Wednesday Night Wars head-to-head broadcast format against NXT since August 12.

NXT actually had a small increase in viewership this week, but only slightly. This week’s episode finished with 696,000 viewers compared to 689,000 viewers for last week. However, this is still well below the viewing audience NXT was able to draw for its two weeks of Super Tuesday episodes when NXT had to air on Tuesday nights on the USA Network due to the NHL Playoffs.

Dynamite also had a slight drop in the ratings for its Wednesday night broadcast. In the P18-49 key demographic, Dynamite scored a 0.32 rating. That’s a decrease from last week’s Wednesday night rating of 0.34.

NXT finished with a 0.18 rating in the key demo, which is identical to last week’s rating for the show’s return to Wednesday nights. The Super Tuesday episodes of NXT scored key demo ratings of 0.26 and 0.22 respectively.

Last week, AEW Dynamite managed to rank No. 3 in the Cable Top 150 rankings. This week, the show fell to No. 9, but it still managed to stay solidly in the Top 10. Last night’s one-hour, Tuesday night episode also ranked No. 9 in the Top 10. NXT also slid down the rankings, falling to No. 38 from its of No. 31 slot for last week.

The NBA Playoffs game on ESPN featuring the Boston Celtics vs. the Miami Heat topped the ratings for last night with a 1.76 rating in the key demo. Hannity on FOX News topped the viewership for the evening with 5.158 million viewers.
