Tim Boestch Suffers Broken Foot In Tangle With Hector Lombard

As if the fight itself didn_t leave much to be desired, an injury sustained by Tim Boetsch now leads to more question marks surrounding the UFC_s middleweight division. Ideally Tim_s Saturday night upset of Hector Lombard would have catapulted him up the ranks and into immediate title contention. However, things don_t always play out in ideal fashion.
First, the bout was a mediocre affair that yielded no dominant victor. Although "The Barbarian" exited the cage with a victory, he didn_t turn many heads, and to make things even worse for the still unbeaten middleweight, he suffered a broken foot during the melee.
“I wanted to use my kicks to keep him off me and that’s what I was doing. Then, early in the second round, I blew up my foot, which made the rest of the fight more uncomfortable than I had anticipated.”
Although Boetsch will be sidelined for some time, it doesn_t completely eliminate him from serious contention. What it does however is throw a mean monkey wrench into what could have possibly made for a spectacular title eliminator: Tim Boetsch versus Chris Weidman. Michael Bisping, Alan Belcher and Vitor Belfort still look to be in the mix however, and this pitfall could simply delay Tim_s trek to the title.
