It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago Anthony Johnson (11-4) campaigned as a welterweight under the UFC banner. Known for the enormous amounts of weight he gains in off-time, Johnson has long struggled with weight cuts. From 170 he planned a transition to 185, which didn’t go exactly as planned, as Johnson missed weight for a third (and subsequent fourth) time in his young career.
Now, with a move to light heavyweight Johnson will look to bypass future weight issues. “Rumble” claims he’s far more comfortable at light heavyweight versus middleweight, and seems undeterred at the thought of fighting opponents who may well be bigger and stronger than he.
No date or opponent has been named for Johnson’s 205 pound debut, which will come under the Titan FC banner. Johnson recently signed a contract with the Kansas based promotion and made his debut at Titan FC 22, where he won a unanimous decision over David Branch.
