Frank Mir talked to MMAJunkie.com this week about breaking Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira_s arm and not wanting to break Junior dos Santos arm this weekend at UFC 146 if it comes to that point as well as his career and the ups and downs he_s faced:
"Honestly, I don_t like the the fact that Nogueira didn_t tap and got an arm broken," Mir said. "He looked very sharp in that fight. I think it would have made me look better had he tapped and went on and had another two or three wins.
"Let_s face it: You_re only as good as your competition. If he doesn_t fight anymore, if he doesn_t fight at a high level, then I beat a guy at the end of his career. If he goes and strings together two or three wins, how good do I look?"
"If I grab (Dos Santos) and he doesn_t tap, it_s going to make me a little upset. I don_t want to have to break his arm, but I want to win the fight.
"If he doesn_t tap, he_s 28 years old. He still could come back and do well. If he injures himself, he_s a great athlete, so I don_t it_s not smart for him. ... If he starts feeling the pressure, come on guys. It_s been 10 years. If you don_t know what_s going to happen by now."
"I got hit by a car, lost the title, had some s----- fights, stayed in it, back against the wall. Dana will tell you himself that he had a conversation with me that he was basically going to let me go if I didn_t win impressively against Hardonk. I fought all the way back from that to submit Brock Lesnar to take on Antonio Nogueira for the interimn title. First guy to knock him out. In my past 10 fights, I_m 8-2 and now fighting for the title.
"I don_t know what it is. I guess I_m stupid and don_t know when to quit."
