While itâ€™s seemed an extremely bold maneuver, The Ultimate Fighter Live coach, Dominick Cruz has chosen to attack the top dogs of opposing coach, Urijah Faberâ€™s team early. The harsh tactic has thus far paid off, as Team Cruz has already taken out two of Faberâ€™s stronger teammates, Daron Cruickshank and season favorite, Cristiano Marcello.
Upon the conclusion of last weekâ€™s episode, Cruz pulled another rabbit from the hat, picking Team Faber top pick, Al Iaquinta to meet young prospect Miles Jury.
Cruzâ€™s decision to target the most dangerous fighters on Team Faber has thus far paid off, and thatâ€™s exactly what the current bantamweight champion had hoped for; heâ€™s aiming to groom fighters for a stint in the most talent laden promotion in the world.
"These guys are training. They_re in a camp to get ready to fight in the best fight organization in the world, the UFC. You_ve got to prepare them for that. You can_t just give them easy fights until they get to the top. It makes no sense. I would not be doing them justice or a favor. So then they get thrown to the wolves right when they get in the division where everybody wants to kill you because you came off _The Ultimate Fighter_? Not my guys. My guys are going to go in there and they_re going to do great because I_ve challenged them since day one."
Cruz isnâ€™t even remotely near apologetic either.
"I_m going straight for the jugular, straight in for the kill," Cruz stated while speaking with MMAjunkie.com. "I_ve done it since the beginning of my career. You start from the bottom, and you work to the top, and you get the _W._"
