While it’s seemed an extremely bold maneuver, The Ultimate Fighter Live coach, Dominick Cruz has chosen to attack the top dogs of opposing coach, Urijah Faber’s team early. The harsh tactic has thus far paid off, as Team Cruz has already taken out two of Faber’s stronger teammates, Daron Cruickshank and season favorite, Cristiano Marcello.
Upon the conclusion of last week’s episode, Cruz pulled another rabbit from the hat, picking Team Faber top pick, Al Iaquinta to meet young prospect Miles Jury.
Cruz’s decision to target the most dangerous fighters on Team Faber has thus far paid off, and that’s exactly what the current bantamweight champion had hoped for; he’s aiming to groom fighters for a stint in the most talent laden promotion in the world.
"These guys are training. They_re in a camp to get ready to fight in the best fight organization in the world, the UFC. You_ve got to prepare them for that. You can_t just give them easy fights until they get to the top. It makes no sense. I would not be doing them justice or a favor. So then they get thrown to the wolves right when they get in the division where everybody wants to kill you because you came off _The Ultimate Fighter_? Not my guys. My guys are going to go in there and they_re going to do great because I_ve challenged them since day one."
Cruz isn’t even remotely near apologetic either.
"I_m going straight for the jugular, straight in for the kill," Cruz stated while speaking with MMAjunkie.com. "I_ve done it since the beginning of my career. You start from the bottom, and you work to the top, and you get the _W._"
