Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez will likely see some time go by before he gets a crack at the UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar, as it was just announced that Ben Henderson would be next to face the champ, but that hasn_t stopped Melendez from thinking about the possibility of fighting the current lightweight kingpin:
“I thought it was an amazing fight,” Melendez told HeavyMMA.com’s Megan Olivi. “Frankie_s tough. He_s shown it again and again. But Gray kind of laid out a blueprint for how to beat Frankie for one round, so now if someone could figure out how to keep it up for two, three, four, five, I think they_ll possibly be successful.
“He_s an amazing fighter and I think he_ll have the belt for a while, but there is no one that you feel can_t be dethroned or that is unbeatable or anyone you fear, at least in my opinion. I think he_s a great fighter, but, again, I don_t (label) him untouchable.”
