Cesar Gracie Not Standing Behind Nick Diaz This Time

Cesar Gracie has guided the outspoken Stockton native through thick and thin, for too many years to count. However, Diaz’s recent decision to avoid the UFC 137 press conference has left a bitter taste in the mouth of Gracie.
Speaking with MMAFighting.com, Gracie shared plenty of thoughts on the debacle, and his opinion doesn’t exactly cater to defending Nick.
"I told Dana [White] he was right to have done that," stated Gracie. "There_s a lot of hard workers I see that have trouble putting food on the table for their kids. I_ve stuck up for Nick a lot, but I can_t stick up for him on this one."
Gracie goes on to state that while disappointed in Nick, he hasn’t necessarily given up on him.
"I would have driven him to Vegas if it came to that, I don_t care. He just turned his phone off and acted like a little kid. It just doesn_t cut it." Relayed Gracie, though he does make some intelligent comments in regards to the situation, and where the train travels from here.
"Nick is like family to me. We_re going to have a long discussion, hopefully with Dana, to see if he_s still in the UFC or not. But let_s face it, Nick is 28 years old. I talked to Dana about this before, and I think a big problem with all of this is Nick has social anxiety. He doesn_t like to go and be away from home. He has no trouble fighting in the cage, though."
