Speaking with MMAweekly.com yesterday, UFC president, Dana White confirmed what many fans already suspected: the winner of the upcoming November 12th collision between champion Cain Velasquez and rugged challenger Junior dos Santos will defend the throne against the victor of the forthcoming Alistair Overeem/Brock Lesnar duel, which is slated for December 30th.
White seems excited by the Overeem acquisition, and openly admits he’s uncertain of exactly where the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion stands amongst the UFC ranks.
“I’m excited to see what Alistair Overeem has,” states White. “And people can yap and say whatever they want, when these guys come over to the UFC, it’s a whole other ballgame. It’s going to be a really good gauge to find out where Alistair really sits in the heavyweight division.”
Thus far only two bouts have been made official for the yet-to-be-titled event: Lesnar versus Overeem, and Jon Fitch versus Johny Hendricks.
