Strikeforce Challengers 17 enabled Bobby Voelker to close out his fistic trilogy with Roger Bowling successfully. A second round technical knockout saw Voelker emerge the series victor, having won two of three bouts these two engaged in. The end came midway through the second frame when a big knee stunned Bowling; a series of follow-up strikes prompted a justified stoppage.
In a featured heavyweight duel, IFL veteran Devin Cole collided with late replacement Shawn Jordan. Jordan stepped in on three days-notice to fill the shoes of the injured Lamar Johnson, and performed admirably considering so. A tough first round went to Jordan, who staggered Cole with a clean uppercut.
The following two frames saw Cole fight safely, and work for the takedowns which led to clear positional control. In the end, the judges scored the fight in Cole’s favor, unanimously.
