The Nevada State Athletic Commission sent along a copy of the agenda for this weeks meeting and while the typical requests for events in the state, licenses, and suspension reviews will be on tap, one order of business at the bottom of the agenda that may draw some attention in the sports world, particularly combat sports, is the commissions plans to hold a discussion regarding steroids and drug testing.
Issues with steroids have been prominent in the world of MMA this year with Testosterone Replacement Therapy becoming a hot issue lately, first with Chael Sonnen but more recently with Nate Marquardt failed test prior to UFC on Versus 4.
Fighters and promoters ears will likely be peeled as the commission also plans to discuss out of competition testing and the use of independent sample collectors for in competition testing.
Another issue likely to be discussed will be that of disciplinary penalty parameters for competitors that are caught testing hot and using banned substances.
