The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s roster may be two steps beyond colossal, but that doesn’t mean Dana White and Joe Silva don’t realize when it’s time to cut dead weight.
The latest fighters to earn their walking papers from America’s largest promotion are heavy handed John “Doomsday” Howard and The Ultimate Fighter season 9 finalist Andre Winner.
Howard’s UFC career began as a promising affair, rattling of four straight victories, including wins over Dennis Hallman and Chris Wilson. Over the last year however, Howard has dropped three consecutive fights, the latest being an action packed affair with “The Immortal” Matt Brown.
Howard exits the UFC with a 4-3 promotional mark.
Andre Winner, who looked to be a serious threat during his run on TUF has, like Howard, hit a rough patch in his career. At 2-4 inside the octagon, it’s to be expected that the Englishman walk away with his pink slip.
Winner last appeared at UFC 132, where he was beaten soundly by dangerous striker Anthony Njokuani.
