An intriguing middleweight bout pairing fellow UFC castaways Gerald Harris (18-4) and Kazuhiro Nakamura (15-10) has been made official for DREAM 17, which goes down on September 24th at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
While this bout has been rumored for a few weeks, DREAM officials have now confirmed the bout to be reality rather than rumor.
As of late, both men have been experiencing what can only be called career rollercoaster rides.
Harris, who began his slow ascent to popularity in the IFL, was recently released by the UFC after compiling a 3-1 record for the promotion. Harris met his promotional demise after offering forth an extremely lackluster performance against rugged Brazilian powerhouse, Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves at UFC 123. Another defeat would follow outside of the octagon, as Gerald dropped a unanimous decision to the unheralded James Head at Xtreme Fight Night 2. Harris has since rediscovered the winning path, though his lone victory post-UFC release came in a disappointing three round affair against tough journeyman Anthony Ruiz at Tachi Palace Fights 9.
The well traveled Nakamura on the other hand, has put together a less than spectacular 5-5 record over his last 10 professional outings. Amongst those five victories, Karl "Psycho" Amoussou stands as the most accomplished victim on the once promising Japanese fighters ledger.
