'Big Foot' Silva Feels He Can Knock Out Alistair Overeem, Win Tourney
After taking out the early favorite to win the Strikeforce Heavyweight GP when he dismantled Fedor Emelianenko in their opening around match up, Antonio Silva is riding high and has plans for his second round opponent, Alistair Overeem when they match up in the semi finals:
"I respect Overeem, but I’m going to train hard. I’m going to train for three rounds, hard. I know I can knock out this guy. I can fight stand-up, fight on the ground, believe me. I told you before, if I beat Fedor, I would win this tournament. I promised my fans, I promised my family, and I’m going to win this tournament."
It will be no small task for Silva to win the Grand Prix. Taking on Overeem in the next round, Silva would then have to face Josh Barnett or Sergei Kharitonov in the final. None of the four fighters will face an easy path to the end but winning the tournament secures a place in the upper echelon of the worlds top heavyweights in MMA today. It could also lead to a shot at the UFC Heavyweight Champion, whomever it may be at the time.
