Clay Guida Ready To Welcome Anthony Pettis To The UFC
Lightweight contender Clay Guida will welcome the last man to hold the WEC Lightweight Title, Anthony Pettis, to the UFC this weekend at The Ultimate Fighter 13 finale which airs live on Spike TV.
Guida and Pettis will be the main event of the evening and this week Guida talked to ESPN_s Franklin McNeil to discuss his thoughts on Pettis and how they match up:
"It_s the fact that I_ve paid my dues in the UFC," Guida (28-11-0) told ESPN.com. "It_s my time. I_m going to make him pay [his UFC dues] June 4. It_s not out of any rivalry or anything like that, but he_s going to realize that it_s time to step it up."
Guida has a point, of course. The list of lightweights he has faced in the cage is impressive -- Kenny Florian, Gilbert Melendez, Nate Diaz, Diego Sanchez and Takanori Gomi.
There are other recognizable names in Guida_s book, but by now you get the point.
"He has fought some tough guys," Guida said. "He has wins over Shane Roller and Ben Henderson -- they are tough guys. But I_ve fought the best in the cage.
"Pettis is super tough. He_s riding a wave of confidence, he_s got the kick heard around the world and he_s beaten some tough guys. But I know I_ve fought and lost to tougher guys than him, and I_ve beaten better guys than him."
