Pride Fighting Championships and Strikeforce veteran, Joey “Smokin’” Villasenor (27-8) will make his return to action on May 27 when he collides with UFC castaway Chris Camozzi (14-4) in the main event of Shark Fights 15.
Shark Fights will, for the first time, promote a card outside of Texas, where the fledgling company is based as their 15th show is set to take place at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. No other bouts have been made official at this point.
Villasenor has not competed since dropping a unanimous decision to Danillo Villefort in September of last year. A seasoned competitor with notable victories over Phil Baroni, Jorge Santiago, Evangelista Santos and Riki Fukuda, Villasenor will aim to earn his first victory since June of 2009.
Camozzi, who competed on the 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter, is 4-1 in his last five fights, and holds a pair of UFC victories over Dongi Yang and James Hammortree. He was surprisingly dropped by the promotion after suffering defeat at the hands of Kyle Noke at UFC 127.
Shark Fights 15 goes down May 27th from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
