After injuries left the Fight Night 24 main card in shambles, a collective groan seeped from the mouths of fans around the globe. Quick repair work has ensured that despite some road bumps, we’re likely to see an action packed card come March 26th.
Things seemed smooth heading toward the card, until Tito Ortiz dropped out of his scheduled main event bout with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Interestingly enough, Ortiz cited “stitches” for his withdrawal from the bout. I’m not certain how severe a cut Ortiz sustained, but announcing his detachment from the event six weeks out from the fight due to stitches leads me to believe that must be one hellacious cut.
In for Ortiz is a less a experienced, but perhaps far more dangerous prospect by the name of Phil Davis.
Davis is an unbeaten, physical freak of nature comparable in many senses to next light heavyweight challenger Jon “Bones” Jones. Davis’s professional record stands at 8-0 (4-0 UFC), and he holds noteworthy victories over Brian Stann and Tim Boetsch.
Also filling out the main card includes clashes between heavy handed welterweights Anthony Johnson and Dan Hardy; Amir Sadollah and Duane Ludwig and an intriguing clash between Aaron Simpson and Mario Miranda.
