AJ Styles will be a free agent on December 16, next Monday, after he and TNA were not able to come to terms on a new contract. As an original TNA member, Styles was frustrated several months ago with the company offering him much less than he was previously making. He signed a short-term contract extension but TNA's cost-cutting is the source of the problem.
Styles is taking independent bookings and is looking for $3,000 to $4,000 per appearance.
There is now concern in the locker room from other wrestlers whose contracts are coming up. The belief is that if Styles couldn't get what he wanted then no one will.
Also, TNA is telling many talents whose contracts are expiring that they need to take a pay cut. Obviously, that is not going over well with many.
