As seen on RAW this week, Big E Langston defeated Curtis Axel to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.
The title change was originally slated to be taped for Main Event before the European tour but had to be pushed back because of communication issues that led to Langston being sent to the tour instead of working the TV taping.
This marks Langston's first WWE title reign on the main roster. Before being called up, he previously held the WWENXT title and FCW Tag Team Titles.
We reported several weeks ago that WWE management had soured big time on Curtis Axel. We also reported that Big E. Langston was in for a big babyface turn and push. Also, Langston's biggest supporter backstage is John Cena. Obviously, that's going to do him a world of good as he's now champion and was involved in an angle with John Cena just a few weeks ago.
